7 Reasons Why We Love Menjangan Dynasty Resort

I don’t know about you, but I always love the idea of camping. Living in a tent in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but you and nature. But as I grow older, camping seems like a burden. There’s the insects, the heat, the outdoor toilet, the inconvenience that makes idea of camping – well, just an idea and never a reality. But a few moments ago, I visited Menjangan Dynasty Resort Beach Camp and Dive Centre and loving it. Here’s all the reasons that makes this place a perfect getaway for you.

Just like its name, Menjangan Dynasty Resort lies in a beautiful corner in Northwest Bali facing the Menjangan Island. From Denpasar, it will take a 3-4 hours ride with a car. It’s a scenic drive and will be memorable. The whole resort rests upon 16 hectares of land, overlooking the serene Banyuwedang Bay. The Resort is bordered by the spectacular West Bali National Park, which includes the tiny, uninhabited Menjangan (Deer) Island. Deer can sometimes be seen swimming from the island to the mainland, and have even been known to swim across Banyuwedang Bay to the Resort. This remote and beautiful corner of Bali is literally as far as you can travel from the island’s densely-touristy areas without crossing the sea, but those who are bold enough to venture away from the crowded south will discover a different world. If you’re looking for a place to escape the busy Bali… this is the perfect place to be!

When I arrive at the resort, I was surprised to see that everything is in a safari style. The staff wears safari uniforms, and every building is made of a tent, including the rooms. This resort uses a combination of luxury, top-quality, African safari tents created to the highest standards in South Africa from robust double-skinned canvas. The tough outer skin can be rolled up to reveal the see-through inner layer, which is fashioned from mesh and acts as a window, The cool air-conditioned interiors of the tents cleverly capture the ambience of the classic safari club style with glass doors, natural materials and muted colors harmonized with blackened steel elements, as well as the recurring, decorative theme of an old map of the Menjangan area. This camp, however, is equipped with all the modern comfort we expect, while keeping us close with nature. This is the type of camping I love: glamping!

When the staff led me to the room, he pointed out several water stations available in Menjangan Dynasty Resort. Apparently in each room, they provide two stainless water bottles. So, whenever we’re thirsty, we can just go to the nearest water stations and refill it. This is not only economic, but also means no plastic bottle to throw away. The water bottle is available to purchase for only IDR 250.000. It will make a great souvenir.

Just right by the lobby, guest can enjoy a quiet swim and sun bathing at their cliff-edge infinity swimming pool. This pool is facing a glorious view of Banyuwedang Bay and Mt Raung, and its spectacular sunset. You can also practice your diving skill because the pool is 3.5m deep. They have sun lounge and big bamboo cabanas for you to chillax by the pool. For those who just finished a dip in the beach, you can the smaller 32.5 sqm beachside swimming pool with its playful waterfall. Both pools are amazing because it’s mostly quiet and so serene.

One name you need to remember is the Pasir Putih Beach Club. This beachside restaurant and bar is open for the hotel guest and for public. However for the public guest, you have to pay IDR 250.000 that can be used for food and drinks credits (worth IDR 200.000). To use the main pool, there’s an extra ticket of IDR 100.000. Led by Frenchman, Philippe L’Obry, the Resort’s Food & Beverage Manager, this restaurant offers a tempting à la carte menu of Western and Asian cuisine. Their breakfast is amazing. In this bamboo restaurant, guest can just stay in for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For those wanting a special romantic dinner with their loved ones, just ask the staff to make the arrangements. There are five sets that you can choose from, consisting of 5 to 6 course dinner with price ranging from IDR 600.000 to IDR 1.500.000 per person.

One thing made an impression throughout my stay is how friendly the whole staff is. Dede, the hotel manager, greets us by name and explains how we can enjoy the whole resort. The staffs gave us the tour of the place and ask how comfortable we are in the tent. Everyone is always smiling and are really happy to be there, making the resort feels like home. They even notice that it was my birthday and send a cake to my room. So nice!

The beach is gorgeous with white sand soft beach facing the Menjangan lush forest. Swimming is safer here, while the snorkeling and dive sites around Menjangan Island rate among Bali’s best. Guests can also enjoy swimming in the calm turquoise sea or have fun kayaking, canoeing, and stand-up paddle boarding, using the facilities of the on-site water sports center. They have various water activities hosted by Bali Hai Diving Adventures. There’s a certified diver program, the discover scuba dive program for beginners, PADI courses, snorkeling, visiting the West Bali National Park, kayak, stand-up paddleboard and mountain bike. There’s also various land activities, such as trekking, bird watching, safari tour and many more that you can choose from.
