Inspired by the best of Bali’s rice terraces, farms and seas, Alila Ubud welcomes some of Ubud’s finest for sunset cocktails at their Cabana Lounge and a five course degustation dinner at The Plantation.
“We wanted to re-introduce our cabana lounge and refresh our menu at the plantation with the new look. And tonight, we wanted to do something special for our guests by also having the amazing cultural performance – the frog dance – during dinner,” explains Hemal Jain, GM of Alila Ubud.
The evening starts beautifully as the sunset covers the Ubud sky with beautiful colors. Everybody who apparently knows everybody, chat and laugh over delicious tapas and amazing cocktails at the Cabana Lounge. These organic cocktails are special because Conrad Michael O’Riordan, the man behind these creative F&B at Cabana Lounge, use fresh ingredients from Alila’s own organic garden. Overlooking Alila Ubud’s dramatic pool perched at the valley’s edge, the Cabana Lounge offers an ambience of relaxed sophistication. It is beautiful in the valley, and the Cabana Lounge gave us that worry-free feeling. Well, the cocktails help.
After we finish with our drinks, the party moves on to the Plantation Restaurant. Long tables had been prepared with all of the guest’ name written on a leaf. It is so pretty and so special. On the menu we can see that Chef Erwan Wijaya had prepared a five-course menu for us. The Plantation Restaurant is famous because their menu is crafted around a farm-to-table concept inspired by Bali’s rich bounty of fresh, seasonal and organic produce. We love how they paired Prawn with Perkedel Jagung, or when they plate the beautiful duck meat with betutu sauce. Even the Es Cendol is pretty, and delicious too.
The Plantation draws on the best produce sourced locally and ingredients grown in Alila Ubud’s organic garden in the creation of its fine dining and seasonal tasting menus. Indulge in authentic Balinese cuisine, traditional Ubud dishes, and divine seasonal tastings prepared using traditional French cooking techniques, accompanied by seasonal cocktails and a well-curated wine list. The night is especially special with a stunning Frog Dance performance. The frog Dance depicts the movements and behavior of a frog, and reenacts a Balinese version of the familiar fairy tale about the princess who marries a frog. What a night well-spent at Alila Ubud.
