Ayana Komodo Resort, Waecicu Beach will be the first five-star resort to open on the exquisite Labuan Bajo, Flores. The much-anticipated hotel opening on 15th September 2018 has created a buzz among travelers as it pledged to set a new benchmark in nurturing the ecosystem.
The new hotel doesn’t just represent the opening of 205 rooms, it also represents the opportunity for the brand to contribute to the environment. Ayana Komodo Resorts has introduced a series of interesting and impactful initiatives to protect the land and sea. The initiatives include inviting marine biology expert into the team, weekly children’s program, local education, sustainable sourcing, and local investment.
“‘AYANA Cares is the motto that pulses through the AYANA brand and there is no greater time for us to take more impactful strides towards caring for our planet,” explains AYANA Komodo Resort General Manager, Fernando Arroyo.
Ayana Komodo Resort has welcomed resident Marine Biologist Jinjing Yan to study the reef’s biodiversity. Guests can also follow Jinjing’s activities and receive more information about ocean and marine life through designated excursions and workshops. To create a fun experience for the children, The Kid’s Club has prepared craft activities using recycled material. Families can also participate in regular beach cleanups.
What’s more, the resort also provides education for the local community. The AYANA Family will invest resources in visiting schools to educate younger societies. They will pass information on Importance of proper rubbish disposal and care for marine life.
In order to have a sustainable sourcing, AYANA’s chefs will purchase the best catch of the day from the local fishermen every morning. Delivered directly to the resort’s Naga Pier, the best pick will be presented to AYANA before being sold at local fish markets.
In addition to those environmental initiatives, AYANA Komodo will contribute to the local community by committing to a donation of US$ 1.00 from every room sold to Komodo National Park. The funds will be then used to purchase new uniforms, training support, and renovation.
