We just finished Nyepi, and it was beautiful. The whole experience of joining the locals as they parade their ogoh-ogoh and bask ourselves in complete silence the next day and watch the sky lit up with shining stars while the island shut down in darkness is unforgettable. Meanwhile, to recap: there’s a small fire in Denpasar, creating a block in the parade; 531 Hindu convicts got a remission; one pecalang got hit as he’s trying to stop someone riding a bike on Nyepi; and four tourists got fined for wandering Kuta streets during Nyepi.
On another note, Bali was just chosen as the best global destination of 2017. This is announced last March 21st by TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice. In this list, Bali wins first place, leaving cities like London, Paris, Rome, New York and Phuket behind. The winners are determined using an algorithm that takes into account the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings published on the TripAdvisor website for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide, gathered over a 12-month period. Good job, Bali!
We are also so excited to welcome so many new businesses in Bali. Mrs. Sippy is opening this April in Seminyak as the new hip destination. Potato Head Group announces the opening of Attarine Restaurant this May. The Edge already announces their new project: One Eighty about to open this 2017. And Omnia Dayclub is set to open this Summer at the cliff of Alila Villas Uluwatu. So excited!
