Bali Hotels Unite for Mount Agung Relief Effort

There have been many organizations in Bali that manage all the donations and raising funds to help the evacuees. And Bali, being one of the biggest hosts for the hospitality industry, surely can count on support and help from the Hotels industries. We talk to some of our hotels’ friends and ask what how do they take part in this disaster relief. The response was amazing.

In a time of need, everybody gathers and unite as one. This is what happened in Bali during these last couple of weeks and thousands of people have to evacuate their homes and villages due to the Mount Agung Level 4 Alert in the 12 km region. According to the latest data from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Bali, there were more than 141,000 residents have been evacuated from their homes as the volcano’s magma flows have risen closer to the surface, triggering hundreds of tremors. The residents are currently being evacuated and dispersed across 508 evacuation points in Klungkung, Karangasem, Buleleng, Bangli, Gianyar, Tabanan, Badung, and Denpasar regencies.

ARTOTEL SANUR visits the Refugee Centre at Banjar Cegeng Kelod Sidemen Lokasari, Klungkung. They donated diapers, mosquito repellent, toiletries, formula milk, provisions, cooking oil, tea, coffee, sugar etc. “We were urged to donate food that was healthier than instant noodles, so cooking oil, tea, and coffee would be more useful. We were also participating with the foundation that was providing activities for children stranded at the center and teaching them to cover their noses, eyes, mouths, and body if the air was thick with volcanic ash in the event of an eruption,” state Frederic Ferry, the Marketing Communications Manager of Artotel Sanur Bali.

Meanwhile, The TRANS RESORT BALI work with Rotary Club Bali Seminyak and visit the Karangasem Regent, Sidemen Villages Camp, to interact with the refugees and hand over their donations. They give away 21 Nazava Water Filters so that the people of the villages could filter their water into clean and drinkable water. They also donate blankets, soaps, milk, clothes, carpets and other essentials. Because there are lots of kids in the area, the management team of The Trans Resort Bali conducted lots of interesting and educational games for the children.

The ANVAYA BEACH RESORT BALI with Kompas Gramedia Bali Group visited the GOR Suweca Pura and Ulakan Park Karangasem. The donations are a joint effort from the Kompas Gramedia Bali, which consists of 13 hotels, 4 medias, Bentara Budaya, and other business units. SO far they are still waiting on whatever essentials are needed by the refugees. But the first batch of donations are ready to be handed over this Thursday, 5 October 2017.
