The ONE Legian passed Disaster Preparedness Verification

A commitment to deliver security & safety experience

Having the spirit of “Security & Safety is Our Product”, The ONE Legian for the second time joined the Disaster Preparedness Verification carried out by BPBD Bali in collaboration with other agencies, such as the Climatology and Geophysics Meteorology Agency (BMKG), SAR, Bali Police, Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), Manpower & Transmigration Service (Dinas Tenaga Kerja & Transmigrasi), Public Works Agency (Dinas Pekerjaan Umum), Tourism Office and Indonesian Restaurant and Hotels Association (PHRI).

This verification, which was held on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, was an extension of the previous verification that was successfully passed in 2015 and obtained a Disaster Preparedness Certification. The additional aspects of assessment in this year’s verification show how important it is to prepare all aspects of the hotel in anticipating disasters. Not just the existence of facilities but also it needs to be communicative or understandable by employees and guests.

Information related to disasters is very important as a form of education and early warning. Learning from preparedness verification in the previous year, the management of The ONE Legian has made efforts to educate and provide early warnings to guests or hotel residents.
There are four assessment parameters including (1)Disaster knowledge, (2)Mitigation (structural & non-structural), (3)Preparedness & response capacity and (4) Security. The parameter is a benchmark for whether the hotel is ready in the event of a disaster, such as fires, riots, natural disasters, and how to evacuate visitors and evacuation routes such as what is up to the completeness of the equipment.

General Manager of The ONE Legian, Bp. Eka Pertama said, “The ONE Legian’s participation this time was an attempt to improve what was corrected in the previous verification. The most important thing is the readiness of The ONE Legian to protect employees, guests and even the community around the hotel in the event of a disaster. It’s true that the handling procedure is important.

Furthermore, Mr. Eka Pertama added that by following the verification of disaster preparedness and pocketing the certificate, the service to the security guarantee to the guests is a definite commitment. It also became one of the unique selling points to promote that The ONE Legian was ready to anticipate an emergency situation.

Regarding the ability to respond to disasters, every hotel is obliged to schedule trainings for employees to be more agile and responsive in emergency situations. This was conveyed directly by the Head of the Bali Province BPBD Pusdalops Gede – Made Jaya Serata Berana at the end of the simulation session conducted by the assessment team and The ONE Legian team from The ONE Legian as a role play.
