Review: Fatboy’s Burger Bar Bali

Not your typical burger joint, Fatboy’s Burger Bar opens its first branch in Indonesia, right here in Batubelig area. We visited the famous brand from Singapore and know that we’re in for a treat.

Last May 2017, Fatboy’s Burger Bar opens in Bali. At first, we were reluctant to try it because it is located right by the main Batubelig street, making it hard to park. However, we soon found out that we could park at Healthy Choice right across of the burger bar. Such a convenience.

The Fatboy’s Burger Bar started in Singapore by brothers Bernie and Kennie Tay. They immediately catches the attention of burger lover thanks to their quirky style. The logo shows a portrait of a fat bald guy with an attitude. Their menu says Fries are vegetables. And they have The Elvis on the menu, which is burger with meat, grilled banana and peanut butter. For me, this is a must-visit restaurant.

The whole vibe exudes fun. They are a 75 seater diner, with a mix of old school benches and modern high tables. The decor has a sixties feel to it and look very vibrant with cool graphics on the wall. Black and white tiles with red neon that says “Let There Be Burgers” catches our attention. Thus, every time the kitchen is finished prepping the burgers and serve it through the window, it’s like our wishes came true.

Talking about their burger, well you just got to try every single thing they’ve got. It is so unique that it will take more than one visit to try them all. Their signature burger is the Fat Basterd which has double beef patties, chewy bacon, cheddar cheese, fried egg and homemade Fatboy’s BBQ sauce. If you can’t handle this, they got Wimpy, which is the single version of Fat Basterd. Their Bikini Bottom is definitely special, because it has beef patty topped with a crispy soft shell crab, smothered in creamy salted egg sauce with crisp leaves. For a healthier version, they got Holy Caesar which is caesar salad with grilled seasoned chicken on sesame seed bun. But if you want to say “You Only Live Once” and want something yummy, try The YOLO. They got single patty with fried egg, fried spam, fried onion strings, cheesy tater tots and smoked chipotle. Greasy Goodness!

Another unique burger we tried is The Elvis, which is exactly a replica of what Elvis loved to eat in his lifetime. It is bacon stuffed pork paty with grilled bananas and creamy peanut butter on honey oat bun. One of the greatest burger I’ve ever tasted. All burgers are served with fries and cooked well done. However, if you want to have something extra special try their Speciality Fries. They got Chili Cheese Fries, Spam fries, Bacon and Cheese Fries, Salted Egg Fries and other choices.

What goes well with these burgers? Some like it with soda floats, some enjoy it with beers or wine. However, we think burger goes well with Milkshakes. Their milkshake comes in three flavours: chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. It’s so thick, delicious and comes with lots of add ons, starting from peanut butter, nutella, marshmallows, kahlua, baileys and many more. It’s practically, build your own milkshakes.

If you want to try other menu, aside from burgers, they got other options. Their Country Fried Steak are amazing. We also tried their Chicken Mac & Cheese (also available with the vegetarian version). They served it with aged cheddar cheese and it gave them a richer flavour. Don’t forget to try the Salted Egg Crab Pasta or Spaghetti Meatballs that’s also worth to try. Enough said, we are impressed!
