Rotary Club of Bali Seminyak Luncheon

Bali is the land of travellers, and sometimes it is nice to be able to find people with shared values that you can call a friend. Last week, we were invited to join the annual Rotary Club of Bali Seminyak Luncheon and we’re impressed with their mission to “Make a Difference” in Bali.

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbours, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who come together to make positive, lasting change in communities at home and abroad. For more than 110 years, Rotary members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. Now, there are over 35,000 clubs all over the world. One of them is Rotary Club of Bali, Seminyak. This club was chartered on 14 May 2002 and consists mostly of expatriates living in the Kuta area. Now they come from all over Bali. Every week they gather and discuss the projects they can do to help Bali.

Dedicating the time and talent to tackle the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges and the slogan 2017-2018 “Making a Difference” make Rotary Club Bali Seminyak carry out some projects in the island that support the 6 causes, includes “promote peace; fight disease; provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; save mothers and children; support education; and grow economies”. Under the presidential year of Mr Alexander Jovanovic, RCBS (Rotary Club Bali Seminyak) this year will fund some projects such as:
• Water filters distribution to mount Agung refugees in Karangasem
• The DAP grant funding for 2,000 copies of children’s book called “Ocean Champions”, the valuable learning tool for elementary school students as it teaches them about their relationship with the oceans as part of their natural environment.
• Buying Bus for disable people of Mount Agung refugees – the first Bus that will provide evacuation transportation for all disable people when Mount Agung erupts also for providing public transportation for disabled people.

Other on-going projects are: School Library, Scholarship, Dengue Awareness Project, Goat Breeding, Cleft & Cranio Facial Operation, Otonomi Clean Water, and Puhu Clean water can be accessed through website
