Where to Celebrate Earth Day: 22 April 2017

Every year, we celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd. First celebrated in 1970, now it’s a day dedicated for the betterment of the environment. We, in Bali, have been a true supporter of protecting mother earth. Since March we have been celebrating Earth Hour as well as the greenest day on earth – Nyepi. Now, for Earth Day, we’re in a celebration kind of mood and spreading awareness. Ss you can imagine, there’s plenty of event that we can be a part of. Here are our favourites:

Where: Flux Lifeground, Kerobokan
When: 22 April 2017, starts from 6PM
Let’s celebrate Earth Day together with Flux! Come and join GLOW Acoustic Music Showcase. The night will be filled with Inspiring music performances by: Nosstress (Bali),Melodrama (Tasikmalaya), Dee Quartet (Bali) and our dear hopies of Flux Soundscape & Friends. Opening Act by FLUX Soundscape Students featuring @thegabrielguitar & @yemimahutapea and Screening an Earth Video Collaboration Project curated by @gisellaserena. All of them will be showcasing their original songwriting to honor mother earth and bless all living beings in the spirit of love, peace, freedom & unity. Tickets will also be available at the door on the day of the event. Ticket price: Rp 100,000.- (incld 1 Jewel Rocks bracelet). All profit will go to support Flux Lifeground Foundation, which is a program that seeks to restore the hopes and dreams of Indonesian youth through creative education.

Where: Manisan Bali – Jl. Hanoman, Ubud
When: 22 April 2017, starts from 7.30 PM.
To celebrate Earth Day, Manisan Bali will be hosting a healthy dinner with a three-course set menu inspired by locally sourced ingredients. It promises to be a fun way to support the environment and connect with likeminded travellers in the elegant ambience of lusty rice fields. This year’s global campaign is all about climate awareness and we hope our event will spark conversation. Dinner is priced at just IDR 250,000++ per person and includes a special performance of Indonesian contemporary dance starting from 7.30pm onwards. Where: Lapangan Puputan, Denpasar
When: 22-23 April 2017
This year, to celebrate, they will host the Malu Dong Festival on Lapangan Puputan Badung, Denpasar on the 22nd and 23rd of April 2017. They will highlight the theme: “Together We Can: Clean Ocean and Mountain, Clean Bali.” Even though the event is held on Earth Day, their program had been initiated long before that. They had the “Aren’t You Ashamed to Litter?” in Denpasar and Gianyar. They also perform a beach cleaning activity every Sunday at 5 PM with 20-50 volunteers every week. Every three months they also organize a Trashveling, which is a visit to the dirtiest area in Bali and educate the society. Some of the activities that will be held at the festivals are workshop on waste management, documentary screening with the environment theme, discussion, mural painting, photography exhibition and many more. There will also be performances from Jangar, Lily of the Valley, Rollfast, Natterjack, Zat Kimia and Navicula.

When: 22 April 2017, starts from 10PM
7 Elephant is back April 22 with it’s second pop-up event and the aliens have landed! Suit up in something out of this world or come as a hoooman! Where: Casa Luna, Ubud
When: 22 April 2017, starts from 7.30 PM
Nita Aartsen returns to Casa Luna, Ubud, on Saturday, 22 April 2017 , to present yet another world-class performance of Latin Jazz with French trumpeter, Jean Sebastien. From the age of five, Nita has been playing piano and has performed for distinguished state guests such as Bill Clinton and Prince Bernard and has done numerous TV and radio shows, concerts and festivals around the world. Nita loves performing at Casa Luna and we’re thrilled to be presenting her once again.

Put on your apron and discover the secrets of authentic Italian cuisine through a fascinating cooking class with our resident expert, Chef Alessandro Molini. This day we’re going to learn how to cook Spaghetti “Napolitan” Style from scratch.
